This is my first post here i have been lurking for awhile and need some help now. I have an 82 XJ550 Seca that has some split valves, yes the two inner cylinder exhaust valves actually have splits making it lose its compression. i would like to know which heads are compatible with the stock 550 like is an xj600, fz600 fj600 and years. Or could i take the complete top end(connecting rods, pistons, cylinders, head, camshafts) of a 82 xj650 or 750 and put it on my 550 case.

Also if anyone has a good head for sale complete with valves and cams i would be very interested, otherwise im looking to eBay. Its much cheaper and easier to just replace the whole head, a new exhaust valve is like 65 bucks plus i dont know how much longer the other valves will hold out. My bike has 43,000 miles. Thanks for any help.

If you are going to the process of removing the head from a fj or fz 600 engine then why not just put that motor in. They will bolt up. This is for the aircooled fj600 or the aircooled FZ 600 motor along with the radian 600 motor. They are the same cases and will line up with no problem. However the seca2 motor will not fit since it's canted forward so many degrees. Back to the 600 motors.. you might need to rejet the carbs but everything does fit. Now if you want to take the aircooled FJ, FZ or Radian head and put it on the 550 that is very doable. the 2mm larger valves help it breath quite a bit. Just make sure you have a complete head including the cam caps. Without them the head is worthless..
