    Hi guys,

I'm looking at my manual and for tightening torque under oil pan it says 43Nm.
there is no way I'm going to attempt to do up a 6mm allen key bolt to that torque,
I was only comfortable torquing them up to 15Nm.

I must be reading the wrong thing, does anybody have the right torque settings for the oil pan/sump??

    thanks in advance,

    Paul.

I'm not sure where you were looking, or what manual you have, but the 43 nm value isn't listed for any engine-related fastener.

1.0 m-kg (7.2 ft lb) is correct for the strainer cover (oil pan) fasteners.

    Thanks for the replies...
I just have a CLYMER manual for the XJ550

Here is the page I'm looking at, and I must be reading it wrong, lucky I knew already that 43Nm wasn't right before I even tried.
Marked the bit I thought was the oil pan in red.

    I only know that a 550 is 100 less than a 650 . . . . .
But that does seem like an excessive torque value for whatever size bolt it is that takes a 6mm hex key wrench.

There are errors in all of the manuals. It seems like the Clymer has more of them than the FSM or Haynes do. Unfortuantely only some of the errors are identical in each manual.
