Decided to spend a few hours today trying to get my right signals working. No luck again, have spent probably 25 hours total with no change.

    This is what happens :
left turn signal lights ok - right turn signal no lights and relay only buzzes.

    What I have tried :

removal and cleaning of handle bar unit, cleaned all contacts on wiring harness under tank and in headlight, used jumper wires to bypass all wires from handle bar switch, from switch to flasher unit, from flasher unit to cancelling unit, all grounds to front and back turn signal lights, bypassed cancelling unit everyting and everywhere ?

    Conclusions so far:

the handle bar unit is working fine, all lights have ground, lights are not blown out and junping wires have bypassed all wires on wiring harness with no change. When I bypass the wires going into the flasher unit the left turn signal lights go on (great) but the right side lights do not and the neutral light dims then the fuse blows.

    Questions:

Is it normal for the flashers to work without the cancelling unit being plugged in ? ( left side still works when unplugged )

Can the flasher relay blow on one side ?

What replacement flasher relay will just plug in ? ( I purchased a 12 volt automotive one with the same plug setup and nothing worked, not even the left side ? )

Just don't understand what is going on any suggestions short of continuing to unplug flasher unit and use hand turn signals lol

I don't see a mention of "removed signal LENSES, removed bulbs, cleaned sockets, made sure nothing was rusted/corroded or broken."

I've had signal assemblies that looked fine on the outside be a horrible corroded mess inside.

If you haven't done it yet, start there.

The system will flash with the cancelling unit unplugged; it just won't cancel.

If you replace the flasher relay with a "generic" one from the auto parts store, you'll lose the self-cancelling feature. The relay itself doesn't "care" which side it's flashing; it uses the same guts to flash whichever side it gets switched to. If it flashes the left OK, it's working. The relay "buzzes" and then blows a fuse most likely because it's being shorted to ground rather than powering the lights.

You've got some sort of wiring issue on the right side. Either corrosion or a pinched/shorted wire somewhere. Again, look inside the signal assemblies.

You might also want to look inside the tail section; lots of wiring/connections (and room for wire-chewing mice) in there.

The signal lights are in great shape - I have powered each with a separate power source. I just removed headlight again and rechecked all connections - all OK

I have done some electrical work but happily have not had much experience.

Planning to try and bypass Br/W at flasher unit and jump to same on handle bar switch to try and isolate problem.

Then do the same with every wire live to run right signal.

Instead of jumping all the wires can you explain how to check current in a line using a small voltage meter ?

Should any auto flasher relay work - will look for standard not heavy duty ?

Once I figure this out, can I leave the canceling unit unplugged or would you suggest leaving it plugged in ?

I appreciate all your effort to try and help solve this and other problems past.

    let me know

    Thanks

Solved - yeha - pinched wire under headlight - removing this group of wires from headlight - opening rubber protective cover - will find pinched wire - insulate and replace if needed - will feel much safer riding again - thanks for all your help - another learning experience
