Ok so im looking at replacing a chain on my xj600 84' . Now reading the links ive got this
( GXW50 RK2535 ). So am i right in thinking its a 535 chain. Ive searched and searched and do you think i can find one. The sprockets are fine so im hoping to just replace the chain. Can i ask the difference in a 535 if thats what im looking at and a 530. Is it just that the width of the links are slightly narrower. Is there any chance of getting away with a 530?.
    Please enlighten me.

500 series chain: 5/8" pitch (distance between pins)
Roller diameter: .400" all 500 sizes
    Width between inner plates--
    520: 1/4"
    525: 5/16"
    530: 3/8"

the numbers after 5 are about width, so it depends on the thickness of your sprockets.

I have a shaft drive so take my opinion with a grain of salt . . . .

Given that information; we can surmise that there is a 1/16" difference between a 535 and 530 chain.
To me that sounds like a giant difference for what I would reference as a 'critical' component.
I recommend you stay with a 535 - chances are really good if you click on the link in the upper right hand corner for XJ4Ever that he will have the correct chain for you.

Start a conversation with user Chacal. He has the correct chain in stock, and sprockets. The spockets may look fine, but they have worn and will do a job on the new chain if you leave them on.

Well i have contacted Len and he has advised me that the numbers do indicate that the chain is in fact a 535. An unusual combination but it could be that they were only fitted to some bikes.
The most likely option now as suggested is chain and sprockets replacement.
