Well I have decided to just forget about replacing the front fairing and go with a new setup..

Here is the basic idea of what I was thinking but would like to get some input from you guys.

I am going to replace the headlight with a 7" light but have been having issues locating a black headlight with 38mm fork clamps. (thats what I have read were the fork size for my 95 XJ 600) if anyone knows of a good place to pick one of these up that would be great else I just go with chrome. Also if anyone knows of a good place to pick up black fork clamps in 38mm that would be great as well. (my internet searching has turned up everyone but 38mm in black)

Next ill replace the stock gauges with the following Acewell 2853 Speedometer but I have yet to find out which cable I should use. I have seen a few posts on here that the S10 cable is the one I want but just wanted to see if anyone here knows for sure. I have emailed the company hoping they could tell me.

Then of course with all the mods on the front end I will have to replace the turn signals and will be switching those out of LED ones just have not decided which ones as of yet. I would assume that I need to pick up the LED flasher relay to make these work. (Silly question - but do I need one for the front signals and one for the back signals or will one do both?)

Thanks guys for your input and ill post some pics of the current state as well as the progress of the build.

great choice for a street fighter, I think that speedo is sharp, but I dont know what cable...

I like what you're doing, though, LED blinkers arent that bright during the day...

Thanks for the input on the LED signals I just have not really found any standard ones that I really like and the stock ones just will not do for this build :).

I just got an email back on the speedo and they are out of the one I want but have the model below it but it just does not have a hazard light but I don't think thats really a deal breaker.

If you really have to streetfighter you bike how about these http://www.bloodrunners.com/ cartoons for inspiration. They featured in late 80's bike magazine.

I liked the idea of the two large headlamps - I think a lot of the current fashion for two small lamps just doesnt look right.

I had thought a long time about the dual small lamps but I think I'm gonna stick with the single 7" lamp. I have to say I liked the cartoons Ill have to look at it more when I get off work.

Cool. I was going to add that two 5 3/4 inch lamps might be okay. Many years ago I had an RD250 2 stroke and the best thing i did to it was fit a cibie asymetric dip concave halogen conversion. The difference was amazing compared to the stock 35w. Imagine what two would be like?

If you want to stick with one, Google "Ogri", another cartoon. Make your headlamp look like his!

Well looks like I will be ordering the speedo this weekend after I look at the existing connections and then double checking the actual MM of the forks to make sure I get the right clamps for the headlight.

Ill post some pre pics tomorrow so you guys can see what she looks like now..

Well here are some pics I took today after I ripped the gauge cluster, headlight, and front turn signals off and another pic of the side of the bike took the tank and airbox off just to make sure everything was all good.. Ill be sending the tank off to a buddy for some paint work hopefully in the next day or so :)

Yeah I think I have those already max diameter is 37mm :( need to find or fab ones that allow for 38mm ill figure something out been looking all over the net and have yet to find any but I'm getting to the point that I might just have to fab some up.

Although im sure my first try might not look that good but what the hell being able to make them yourself makes if much more fun :)
