xj650 cam chain

    hi there can anyone tell me how long the cam chain normaly lasts on the xj650. bike has done 38000 miles. cheers

    A can chain is like a drive chain you never know when its going to go they just due but I would say everything 30k just for piece of mind and replace a few other things since your there. But that's mine mind to others they might say different. Plus side a chain is cheaper then a motor

    NOT TRUE at all; there is a very specific and reliable method to check drive chain and sprocket wear and know when they need to be replaced.

    The general "rule of thumb" for XJ cam chain life is 40K miles or thereabouts.
