Does anyone know if the 1981 xj650 maxim have the same mounting points as a 1980 xj750 seca? Also, are the drive shafts the same? Any advise would be great. Thanks

Thanks for a prompt response. Looks like I have a lot more reading a head of me.
That great to know I can swap a 650 engine with a 750 engine.

Motor mounts are different between Seca and Max... Max is rubber mounted, Seca is solid. I'm not sure about differences between 650 and 750, but I know the 750s are interchangeable if you make a few changes to accommodate the difference between the mounts.

You can use the 82,83 xj700,750 maxim also has rubber front mounts.
If you can use the matching carbs so that jetting is not an issue
