...has anyone done one of these?

The bottom of my final drive is covered in dirty oil, and I have a new seal but the service manual doesn't tell how to do the job. I've done fork seals so it's not exactly a mystery, but I don't want to tear into this thing any further than necessary. Has anyone done this job? What parts need to be removed to get at the seal (I already have the wheel off)? Are there any tricks and pitfalls or is it straightforward? Does anyone have torque values?

From the bikebandit diagram, it looks like removing the housing (part 18) is all that's required to get at the seal. Is this going to throw everything out of whack or is that a simple R&R operation?
