xj650 seca, 1981, main air jets

    Has anyone tried running an xj650 seca (Hitachi carbs) with slightly larger main air jets in the carbs? The specs call for #50 main air jets and I am wondering what will happen if I run the bike with #55 jets instead.

    If you add a larger fuel jet you have to increase the air intake also or you will run rich.

    Why would you want to increase the mains?

    The reason I was thinking about using the #55 mains was because that is the closest size I have to the stock size #50 jets. I have 3 sets of carbs all torn apart and none of them are stock. Too bad people can't leave things stock instead of all the changing that has been done on these carbs that I am struggling with.
    I am mainly trying to fix up a set of carbs as cheaply as possible without adversely affecting the bikes operation. Thanks for your input.
