hi there just took the exhaust off my xj650 to replace the gaskets as it sounds like its got a slight blow. and noticed its got a slight oil leak. coming out of the barrel fins just by no 2 exhaust hole. think its leaking from the stud that holds the head on. could this be were the noise could be coming from. cheers

Probably not. And the leak is probably the valve cover, on the inside (toward the spark plug galleries) leaking, and running down between the fins to emerge at the front and worry you unnecessarily.

Yep, I have the same problem, a leaking valve cover.

Len has the gasket you need and also replace the donuts. I plan on doing the same thing very soon (when I check clearances).

    Leaks drive me mad!

"Donuts" only apply to YICS motors. On a pre-YICS motor, it would only require a new gasket and maybe a fresh set of "half moons."

We don't know which 650 the OP has.
