    Hey gang!

Well did a search and looked in my Yamaha manual but oddly enough I can't seem to find the proper gap setting for the XJ650.

    Little help please? :D

The plug is a NGK BP7ES and gapped at 0.7-0.8 mm or 0.023-0.032 inch.

They only widen with the miles; I generally start at .025"

    Fitz,

Is that the gap you set for all bikes or just the 650?

    XJ550? NGK DR8ESL

    Thanks.

I use the same "starting" gap on the 550s, yes.

And you should be running NGK D8EA in the 550, not DR8ESL's. Especially with the stock plug caps, you don't need resistor plugs too.
