I'm installing new steering head bearings on my XJ650J Maxim. The picture will show what I believe to be the old races and the new races installed. Is it ok to have the new upper race sit slightly above the head? I pressed it in as far as it will go. Also, did I remove ALL the old parts? I do have the 38 little balls and 4 pieces which sandwitched them in the head. The reason I'm asking is that I think the races came out way to easy.

As long as it is in level it will push down when you torque the nut.
