    Hi everyone.

My season is closed 'till April, so I started upgrading my precious.

I have one problem - one of the rear shock absorbers leaked out, so I need a new one. Maybe anyone knows, as there is so little parts for this bike, what models of bikes is compatible with my model? Like, maybe shock absorbers for XJ750 or XJ900 is compatible with XJ700? I hope you understood my question :) Thank you!

    1985/1986 xj700/750

The 1985/1986 Maxim-X shocks also fit.

Otherwise, measure eye-to-eye and measure the hole diameters. Almost anything with those measurements will fit.

XJ700 models use a longer shock than all of the other XJ bikes of this era. The 700 air-cooled and 700 water-cooled shocks will fit, but:

    a) they are internally valved slightly differently
    b) their external appearance is slightly different from each other.

We should have a good used shock (or pair) if you need a replacement.

HWOEVER, used 1980's vintage shocks are, well, old and used. You would be much better off to purchase a proper-fitting set of performance shocks from any variety of aftermarket manufacturers.......p.s. that doesn't include the Chinese stuff you find for $ 29.95/pair on eBay. With shocks, you get what you pay for, meaning that better performance generally comes with a higher price.

84+ xv700/1000/1100 shocks also work, but they are a little bit shorter.
If you look at my 700 in my gallery, then look
At my "pseudo-bob" 700 in my gallery--- realize that you are looking at the SAME bike. The rear shocks in "Pseudo-bob" trim are virago (xv1100) shocks. Bolt on swap.
