So one of my winter projects for the bike is going to be doing the forks. They're in BAD shape. Not bent, but all the seals and cap bolts and o rings will need to be replaced and that is getting pretty pricey.
I see forks on ebay for our bikes at nearly half the price of my rebuild. So i'm thinkin about it.
Which models are compatible with my 700?
Even if I can just strip the good parts off the ebay forks and buy the other parts from our resident chacal I still think that'd be cheaper.

What do you suppose the odds are that eBay forks aren't also in need of rebuilding, or will be soon?

My understanding is only 85/86 XJ700 will fit. The X forks are designed with air assist but it wouldn't hurt anything on a non-X.

I have a pair in the garage, but they are slighly pitted and would need new seals too.

Well see I wouldnt mind doin the seals. But my cap bolts are rusted through/ Those babies are 25 a pop! So maybe i should just go and rebuild em.. Pricey.. but you're right. The ebay ones will prob need a rebuild in the near future
