I recently bought a 1985 XJ700 and today took a 100 mile trip. I'm home now with praise and two problems one of which is not the bikes fault. I'm 75 years young but my legs don't seem to buy that. I usttaq have a 750 Virago and I think the forward shift and brake controls caused less stress attemping to get my feet on them. Are any forward shift controls available?

Problem two, on the return home I stopped for a traffic signal, when it changed so did my idle speed, it jumped from 1000 RPM's to 3500 RPM's. I intend to remove the tank tommorrow and check the cables and linkeage. Any advice on either problem would be appreciated. I am a retired Auto Mechanic and will provide feed back on what I find. :p

BTW the bike had a history of long term storage, so I had lubed and changed oil, filter etc. Also removed the horns and ran the adjustment screw in and out till they freed uo and sounded off again.
    Thank You,

Hello and welcome to the site. TC Brothers make forward controls for a fair price (about 175.00), I made my own but it was pretty involved. You can find TC Brothers online or do a search on Ebay.

Te TC Brothers fwd controls are nice but I decided to build my own as well to incorporate mini-floorboards for more foot comfort. The TC ones are just pegs for your feet I believe.
