Hello I managed to get my 1985 xj700 carbs out and now finishing up on bench synchronising. While I'm doing this I would like to do a oil and filter change. So here is what I was thinking, what are you guys runing on your xj700? What oils have you used and and liked or not liked. What filters are you running?

I'm using Mobil 1 synthetic in my XJ700 and have had no problems at all. However, I think any high quality oil with the JASO rating will be fine. There are a lot of folks that swear by Rotella. I am using a Fram filter because it comes with the o-ring. I think Wix filters also include the o-ring. Can't remember the Fram number, but someone will post it here.

Fram filter is CH6003. use a cross reference for other brands, but check and make sure the o-ring is supplied unless you want to reuse the one you have.

I did the spin-on conversion, and run a Bosch 3300. I've never had any issues, even after a valve cover bolt holder exploded and released chunks into my engine, the filter caught them all.

I use Castrol 4T 20W-50, but have been thinking about switching to the Rotella.
