    Hi,
A few years ago mcrwt644 made comment to someone that he put the TCI from a "regular" XJ700 into your X and it worked fine.

    (see http://www.xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic ... relay.html)

By "regular" XJ700, does it mean an air head? DThe air head TCI is TID14-44, and the X is TID14-35.

I ask because my *-35 may be bad and I have a *-44 which is supposed to be good. I have been told that it wouldn't work right, but I don't know how much it would be off as I know nothing about timing/advance/etc., whatever that gobbledy-gook is. Here is the timing/adavance info for both taken from Chacal:

    AirHead: X

    Advance curve: Advance curve:
    7* at 1050 rpms 5* +/- 1* at 1100 rpms
    ~18* at 2000 rpms 15* to 35* (??) at 2000 rpms
    ~27* at 3000 rpms 40.5* to 45* at 3000 rpms
    ~33* at 4000 rpms 40* to 45* to 4000 rpms
    37/5* at 5000+ rpms 39* to 44* at 5000 rpms
    36* to 41* at 8000 rpms

It looks like 3k and 4k rpm are quite different but that the others are within tolerance. Do you know what would that mean to the performance of the bike or operation in general?
