    Will a ring set for a 1984 xj750 fit a 1985 xj700. both are 65mm bore and have the same ring count per piston.

    1984 750 ~ n/a

    1983 750 Rings (Std) = P/N 5G2-11610-00-00 |U.R.
    1985 700 Rings (Std) = P/N 1FG-11610-00-00 Not Avail.

    Looks like you have a shot.

    Unfortunately it will not work without a bit more work.

    The 750 uses a #1(Barrel), and #2(Taper) ring that are
    B=1.2mm(0.05in) (Thickness)
    T=2.7mm(0.11in) (Width)

    The 700 uses a #1(Barrel), and #2(Taper) ring that are
    B=1.0mm(0.039in) (Thickness)
    T=2.6mm(0.102in) (Width)

    The oil scraper rings are the same size.

    You would need to have the ring grooves in the 700 pistons opened up slightly in order to use the 750 rings.

    Might be better to locate a good set of 750 pistons to use. As the 700 is a combination of the 650 stroke with the 750 bore. It should work, But make sure you check the piston pin, and deck/dome height.

    For the head gasket. You can use the 750 head gasket as a direct interchange for the unavailable 700 head gasket.
