XJ750 SECA Custom

    DIY rear sets from Dime City Cycles came in 2 days ago. No pictures yet though and sadly tires still have not been mounted. I have been trying to decide whether I want or will need to shorten the rear of the gas tank by maybe 2-3 inches? I feel it makes the bike long but I guess I will have to wait until I get the rearsets and tires mounted so I can sit and see how it feels sitting that far back.

Started on the seat portion and quickly realized it was time to stop and get some whiskey before I f*** something (else) up lol

    But more progress last night. Seat is a bit tight to fit over the seat frame so I’ll have to adjust that or decide if I want to have the seat frame covered. Tank is not level left to right because the tank mounts are tacked and flex for now. Tail of the seat still needs to come down lower to be level with the top of the tank but still happy seeing the seat with nothing propping it up. But look at those body lines running from the tank to the seat damn near perfect match.     Seat angle is fixed and I believe final. Started on rear tank mounting. As it sits when you “rock” the tank on it has a nice tactile feel as it latches in place. Was thinking of dampening and putting a pin through but not sure how I feel about.     Progress has been slow due to not having my car. Priorities. But problem solved. Kinda hard to bleed a clutch with a snapped clutch fork. Clutch kit will be here Monday. Will be doing myself. Not enough time in the day lol 516DCF2F-D590-4D07-9953-B39FDAD09C78.jpeg

    COULD NOT BE HAPPIER WITH THE WAY EVERYTHING IS LOOKING. Tires. Finally. Still need to push the front forks up through the clamps some more for the rake. Fitment of the tires is perfect. I do need the shims/washers for the swingarm before I can begin welding on that to be certain everything is squared up. Chacal? My frame stand just so happens to put my swingarm exactly where I want/need it to be, 12 Degrees. Also my rear sets from some city made it to the garage and off the dresser. Decided I don’t like the rear tank mount so will have to re visit that. Huge milestone for me but it’s still not a “roller” per say. I’ve also been sitting on intake and exhaust covers I modified from a cad file I pulled off here. Much appreciated. Color coded for fun.     Numbers, 12* SA angle is without rear sag, that's in sport bike range. My bike is '82 XJ750 Maxim (aren't they all)
    W/B 55.375"
    Rake 25.3*
    weight front- 49.3% = 201.14#
    weight rear- 50.7% = 206.86#
    Weights and percentages are from a friend's digital race car scales. I can't recall the S/A angle, I'll check domani.
    Fun to compare to others specs.

    Not sure when ill be able to get on a scale although id like to. I believe my wheelbase is very close to yours if not the same, I will have to find where I wrote it down, just measured it not too long ago. Much appreciated look forward to seeing the similarities.

    So I’ll finally be driving my car home from work tonight. Working at a shop and only being able to work on your car after you get off and during lunch is frustrating. None the less it’s fixed. Progress has been slow but will be picking back up now that that’s out of the way. Small update on seat and I have decided I will be shortening the rear of the tank 2 inches.
