ok so ive been reading around about spoke wheels for our xj shaft drive and hopefully some of the more knowledgeable guys on here will know the answer but if i get a rim and final drive from a virago 535 will the shaft from our bikes fit the final drive is
the spline count the same where the shaft goes into the final drive

That cafe build use 750/1100 virago wheels.

I also did a write up using the 700 virago wheels.

The 535 virago still seems to be a mystery.

The only thing I can recall about the 535 is whether it can take the extra power and weight. Comparing apples to oranges, but when I used to race if you used stock spoke wheels on a Honda 350 with a "built" motor there was a tendency to break spokes. Maybe the same with these wheels??
    Just sayin'.

well i thought of that too but i i just really want the hub cuase i planned on getting them relace to like a 18in maybe a little wider too if possible.. and also use thicker spokes that can handle the power of my 750

Ok, didn't realise you were thinking in that direction. That was the solution to the breaking spokes, I believe that you can go up one thickness and get them in stainless steel.
As far as wider rims go, the stock tire might not seat properly on a wider rim as far as I recall and a wider tire may be out unless you modify the drive shaft cover as there is not a lot of clearance between the shaft cover and the edge of the tire. I think someone on here did notch it out, but can't remember the thread or how well it worked as it is a formed part that gets it's strength from it's shape.
As far as your first post, don't know if switching the 535 swingarm is a direct swap as far as fit, splines shaft length etc. If no one has an answer you'll have to look at on-line parts and see if the numbers between your bike and the doner bike match. Some of the Yammy stuff does cross over from one model to another but not always.
    Good luck.

The Virago swingarm will allow a 140 series tire, but you will have to use the Virago shaft as well because the swingarm is a little longer.
If you notch out the existing swingarm tunnel, it will need to be reinfored or it could twist or fail depending on how much material is removed.
One member modified a V-Max swingarm to accept a wider tire by adding a second u-joint to the shaft and remaking the tunnel for it, but that is a very ambitious job and requires much skill.
Good luck with your build and post some pics. :p

well 0&B i was thinking not to swap the shafts but just the hub and the final drive lik the piece that connects to the wheel and connecting my swingarm and shaft to it. thats what i was wondering if my swingarm bolt pattern will bolt to the final drive or "pumpking if you will cause theyre all four bolts right ? and also if my current shaft would go into it were the virago shafts diff?

The Virago shaft is longer than the XJ shaft. I'm sure the pumpkin will bolt on, but not sure if the cush drive is the same. MIGhost's write up should be of help because he used the Virago swingarm on his build.

The swing arm in my write up is the stock XJ750 swing arm.
The virago swingarm is both wider, and longer than the XJ, and will require custom fabrication work to function in the XJ frame.

The 535 virago uses a final drive specific to only the 535. All 700/750/1000 viragos use the common XJ/XV final drive.

The easiest way for a bolt in swap to spokes is to use the 700/750/1000 Virago hubs.

well i can get the rear wheel and final drive from a 535 wouldnt thst work cause the finall drive is almost the same as ours or at least it looks that way and i know someone on here did the swap.. he just said that the xj rear hub needed a little fab work for the viraga wheel to work. i ust figured i get the finall drive too cause it looks like our swingarm would bolt on.. im just stubborn cause there is no bigger virago wheels out there

90's models Suzuki Intruder/Savage and Kawasaki Vulcan have shaft drive on left side and same size axles. Some have rear disc brakes. Don't know if the XJ pumpkins will work with them though.
