I just bought a 1982 XJ 750 Maxim and was trying to figure out the difference between these models and which I had. Thanks a lot!

Each year they change the letter, so some of them indicate a year change. Others indicate model differences. The XJ750 maxim has a different letter than the XJ750 Seca. Some examples of this are
    1983 XJ750k is the 750 maxim
1983 XJ750mk is the midnight maxim
    1983 Xj750rk is the seca

    The xj750j indicated a 1982 maxim verse the XJ750K is a 83 maxim.

In some years it doesn't make a difference but in others it does.

I'm beginning to like the XJ750K just because of not having the electronics makes life alot simpler. Also the round handle bars and headlight I think are nicer.
