I just want to get peoples opinion on a bike. I am thinking of getting a xj900. I have heard these are good bikes. Did they make them in 1982? The owner says it runs but needs carbs synced. I am looking to trade a Sig p239 for it and wanted to know if this is a good deal? I'll try to attach a pic. Thanks!!

    Tex

I forgot but the owner says he does have the headlight and fairing it just needs to be attached. I recon I should ask him why it's off.

That would sell for about $6-800 in Aust' as it sits, but as i've read here they are uncommon over there. Looks like a keeper to me. Is a Sig p329 an air gun (from a quick google) if so you'll have much more fun with th 900.

The Sig p239 is a 9mm handgun. Sig is a well know gun manufacturer here in the states. It started off in Germany. I paid $450 plus a Hungarian Makrov for the Sig so I am about $600 into it.

    the Sig's worth about 400 to 600 ? (guesstimate)
the xj, if it has a title and compression is easily worth more
unless it's 2am and there's a bad guy standing in your kitchen :)

LOL..if theres a bad guy in my kitchen at 2 a.m. he is more likely to meet Mossberg than Sig. Not sure about the title but due to age it is not necessary here in Maine. But I will get a bill of sale with all pertenant info so if there is a issue I have a paper trail to start with.

as far east as you can get in michigan 43.027407,
anytime you can get rid of a 9mm for something of value, is a good deal...

even better when its a Sig! lol

as for me and mine, we will carry and shoot John Brownings masterpiece thank you very much... :D

If he is willing to trade, And your looking for a bike. I would say do it a 9mm is good but you already mentioned you have others. So get you the bike if it has the title and all.

Something looks odd at the rear of that bike, is it a small tire, or saggy springs???

The Helmet Lock and Grab Rails are missing.

You're going to NEED that fairing. The Front Fairing houses the Headlight.

If its a running bike; your getting a good deal.
Since it breathes on Big Mikuni's that you can Jet and Tune; you can make it go with the 4 into 1 Header.

That Exhaust System L@@Ks ugly as sin.
I'd get the thing coated and find a Silencer that looks more Euro than what's on it.

A few accent stripes and you have a 900 ... hopefully with some of the fun left in her.

Yes the 1894 Winchester was a fine firearm. And responcible for taming the wild west. But a little bulky for self defense dont you think? ;-)

wizard: not sure about the rear. I have seen a lot of other 900's that have a longer fender mabey thats it?

Rick: I agree, not crazy about the exhaust, I would like to go back to the stock exhaust at some point.

great deal on a great bike, that muffler almost looks like a 2 stroke silencer, i actually kinda like the paint, and ya, some sticker or striping would set that off

XJ Translation Service report: the carbs need to be totally rebuilt, at the minimum, and hopefully it's only a carb issue and not a worn-out engine, do a compression test of the cylinders before you buy!!

They still make the 9mm right you can always get another one. The bike is worth more than what you paid for the Sig and they dont make a bike like that anymore so you cant always get another one of those.

If it runs, get it. I have two........... and if you get it, PLEASE get in contact with me so I can get you registered onto the XJ900RK Seca Database.

I'm curious about the side covers..... haven't seen one with open vent holes before. Someone modify them?
