I bought a heavily crashed XJ900 where the alloy oil filter boss has broken off the lower crankcase half. I cannot drill and thread the short broken stub remaining. It is the part the steel oil filter and cooler sandwich bolt assembly screws into.

As I have an undamaged but oil leaking head gasket on my XJ750 (Model 29R) which has the same frame as a XJ900 I am offering up the 750 lower crankcase half together with the sump to the 900 and it seems to fit, however I do not know if the gear cogs are the same, anyone know please?

I guess the cogs will stop the crankcase faces matching if the clusters are not compatible.

Both bikes are regarded as scrap so no money issues here for the first time in my life :)

Look on this website http://www.cmsnl.com/yamaha-xj750rk-sec ... ml#results and compare the part numbers for the 750 and 900.
I've only checked a couple of them but the numbers seem the same so you might be in luck.
