    Hi everyone

Can you give me an idea of how the self cancelling indicators work on the XJ 900F as I have to cancel mine at the handlebar switch?

The SELF-CANCELLER UNIT is a rectangular, sealed, rubber-coated box with 6 wires coming out of it into a connector: a solid tan wire, two (2) white wires with a green tracer stripe, a yellow wire with a green tracer stripe, a yellow wire with a red tracer stripe, and a white wire with a red tracer stripe.

By the way, the self-canceller operates off both time AND distance measurements to determine when it should cancel the flashers.....a minimum of 10 seconds time and 150 meters (about 400 feet) distance. BOTH criteria must be met before the canceller releases the signal flasher:

Thanks Chacal I am switching the indicators off by hand too soon so I will leave them tomorrow and see if they cancel themselves. Silly me how can they cancel when I am doing it for the cancelling unit.

It is good practice to cancel the indicators yourself. The self cancel is only their for backup if you forget.

Ya I am not too sure how I feel about the xj and that feature. I miss the "push to stop flashing" most other bikes have. I will have to either get used to it or deal with it some day.

You can still push to cancel (and I do), but the self-cancel keeps you from looking like an idiot if you should happen to forget to cancel your signal.

Yamaha used two different types of turn signal switch; one that you push in, and on that you push down on. I'm not sure which was used on the X.
