Hey everyone, I am new here and am thinking about getting a Maxim750 to modify and bob out. I am noticing that most people that bob out yamaha's tend to do it to the xs models. I was wondering why that is, and also if it's as easy to get the parts and modify the Maxim's as it is the xs's. Any and all advice would be helpful, pics, links to part suppliers, anything.
BTW it is an 82 Maxim 750 that i am looking at.
    Thanks guys,
    MK

    ok i'll do my best:
    1. xs650's are a relic of the greatness that is yamaha (haha), while there are many fans of xs's there are still plenty of xj fans, there are lots of good cases of bobber's and whatnot on this site, here are a few:

    crath: http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=9 ... crath.html

    kevinelevin: http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=12893.html

there are many more minor to major mods, just look in the section

here are some pointers: these bikes are as tuned as they can pretty much possibly be from the factory.. pods USUALLY require alot of tuning and messing around, so you may want to keep your airbox on, however kevinelevin was able to run pods and open pipes with stock jets

and as far as parts go- well we have a member on here, named chacel: http://xjbikes.com/Your_Account/profile=743.html

he has practically every part needed to build a brand new xj from the ground up

good luck and hope you pick that bike up...

one think, what's your name? I know someone named marv kish...

My name's not Bill. Bill was one of most respected and important contributors of this forum, unfortunately he passed away when a van pulled out in front of him... that's just a small memorial to him.

    my name's Lance
