My '82 XJ650J has an annoying whistle, one dealer told me all of these engines are noisy? and another told me its caused by the straight cut gears. Is this a normal noise? HELP

It does have a whine on the primary drive. This is perfectly normal.

you did'nt get specific,engine noise or just a whistle? i'd guess a bar end open if it's just a whisle or other pipe type thing isn't pluged,you know like blowing across a pop bottle?

Mine doesn't whistle or whine.
