Title: XJ750 Carb Sync
Description: XJ750 Carb Sync

I have a 1984 Maxim 750 with the YICS. The idle hunts and it coughs a little when it is warmed up, especially off the line and through 4500rpm.

I've just started the process to sync the carbs. I started by cleaning out the carbon in the YICS passage, and found only 2 holes, not 4, as in the YICS tool instructions. Did I miss 2 holes or is this normal...anyone know? The measurements are also incorrect for the 750...the tool fits a wider engine, probably the 1100. Does this make sense or am I out to lunch?

Anyone have any more advise for this process?

Tom, you should have four holes. There are two right out near the ends of the YCIS tube just past wear the plug threads stop, and two more further in.

I too am looking to sync some xj 750 carbs. Can some one tell me before I purchase the necessary yics tuning tool. Is there a special tool for 750 or does the one tool work for all models? It does seem logical that the xj1100 is wider and larger than the xj750. But I've been mistaked before. Could some one help me out with this question? Bob

Cary,

I looked again and I could not find 2 more holes. The 2 I found were exacltly inbetween each set of carbs. So I went ahead and built a YICS tool using my dimensions and sycned the carbs. It worked fine, runs much better.

What were your dimentions???

The holes were 4 and 1/4 inches from each end of the block. The total length of the block is 14 inches, approx 2 inches shorter than the 1100.

Wow, I was out to lunch. I had a buddy try to find the other 2 holes and he found them right away. They are 3/4 of an inch from the edge of the block. I guess I should resync the carbs, but it runs fine.

Anyway thanks for the help.
