I have a 1981 XJ650 that my husband is fixing up for me. We are having problems with the 1st gear, it keeps popping out of gear. We have found a 1981 XJ750 transmission real cheap and was wondering if it would work in my bike.

Anyone know?

Pam, on my 1982 they use the same transmission and given the Mfg.'s preference for using common parts, I would believe the same will hold true for your '81. In fact the engine/transmissions for the 650 & 750 are nearly identical except for bore/stroke and the clearances related to those.

If you have a Haynes manual you can check for sure, or call your local dealer and they should know.
