Is there a way to determine the model of my 85 Yamaha xj 700. I notice that there are 3 different models for my year.I have tried to use the local dealer but they basically refuse to help.

Yeppers, it is in the serial number which can be found on the neck of the triple trees.
With this number and using a look up chart one can figure out the model.

i have the list of models and what numbers = what model, but not with me, its at my parents house :( ill grab it next time i go there, and post it up here for everyone.
