I just got a new chain and sprockets for my '81 XJ550RH Seca, and was surprised that the new rear sprocket doesn't come with the three steel locking clips that go on the six sprocket studs (tabs on the clips get bent up against the nut flats).
The local dealer has to order them, but I was wondering if just going down to my local specialty bolt and nut supply house and just getting Nyloc nuts would be a better and cheaper way to go. I think that's what some BMW motorcycles have.
Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
I've never really liked those locking clips anyway. Normally I when I take them off I don't put them back on again. Nyloc nuts would probably work well, that's a good idea. Perhaps I'll try it next time.
