When I bought my cycle it only came with one key. I was at the local Yam dealer and asked about buying a second. They told me they dont have them and cant get them.
Anyone else have this problem?
I lost my only key, so now I dont know what to do. My bike is done with the exception of getting the clutch to work properly and I cant ride it ! ^#$% it!

Well guys judging by getting no answers I guess this is a sour issue.
Last stitch effort before call a locksmith yielded the key- so it HAS been found :D
Ended up being in the back pocket of a pair of work pants... Normally dont put keys there ;)
But after this experience Im going to have a key made. If the locksmith says he cant I will make it myself in the toolroom out of A2 :)

Motorcycles are a bit tough to get keys made for. I believe that you will need to buy a key blank from a Yamaha OEM parts dealer or over the internet and then take your original and the blank to the locksmith. The blank shouldn't cost more than $10. As for what to do if you lose all your keys, you are now screwed. I have never heard of anyone rekeying an ignition lock for a motorcycle. If you can buy a used ignitian lock then that really is your only option.

I had my key copied at my local Ace Hardware for a couple of bucks. The key says on it ILCO YH50. My brother had to have some saddle bags keyed at a locksmith and I think it cost him $25 or so.

I will try at the local hardware. I will use that part number. Hopefully they can copy it. Im gonna have a few made up...

There should be a key number stamped into the ignition switch somewhere. Maybe on the underside. If you take this number to a good dedicated key cutter or parts dealer they should be able to order replacements for you.

Probably of no help, especially if Ace Hardware really makes motorcycle key copies. Can't get any easier than that. But anyway, I noticed a blank key on Ebay. Thought I would leave you the link, just in case. Just cut & paste.

You got me worried about losing my only key. Hehe
Better safe than sorry. Thanks. B)
