Took apart carbs for cleaning last night and noticed that from one to the next the numbers on the various jets were not quite the same. For example I think I had some that were 112, and some were 110. In the smaller ones some were 42, and some were 50.
Do the numbers indicate the orifice size? And should they all be the same?
Also, PITA, broke the last main jet as I was reinstalling so now the bike is disabled. Hope I can find one in a hurry.
TIA,
Jim
Jim, the stock main jets were 110 and the stock pilot jet was 40. The 112 main jet was sold as a stock unit on bikes sold in England, but it is possible someone was playing with the jets trying to get better performance so maybe they mixed them up. You should use the same number jet for all carbs though or the synchro would be off as some carbs would have richer mixtures than others.
FYI: The 112's would give you a little more pep but it wouldn't be that noticeable unless you also changed out to performance air filters. If you are planning on using the stock air box, I would let the price between the 110 & 112 be your determining point for which one to use. Oddly, the only 50 jet mentioned is for the main air jet, so not sure what is happening there.
Cary.
