Need some help.
When revving my bike it sometimes slips out of gear. This usually happens at about 7,000 RPM. The clutch seems to be fine at every other speed but when the engine revs to 7 k + it comes out of gear.
I'm afraid to rev the engine up because I don't want it to redline whent the clutch slips and there is no load on the engine. When this does happen I just pull on the clutch and change gears.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks James
Does it pop out into a false neutral, or does it downshift with a bang? Does it do this in any gear or only second?
I usually don't rev the bike up too much in first gear so that maybe why it has never slipped out of first. I would say that it usually happens in second or third (this may be because I usually don't rev it up that high in 4th gear)
The other question was if it downshifted with a bang or found a false neutral.
The engine finds a false neutral, which takes the load off the engine and then the engine really revs up until I pull in on the clutch to up shift.
My 81 XJ 750, newly acquired this week, slips out of first and into neutral at about 5-6000 rpm. It doesn't slip in any other gear, leading me to think that first gear may be screwed up. The clutch cable tension is high, and there is littlle, if any, play, and so my only plan thus far is to try adjusting cable tension...
Any thoughts? Anyone?
Thx. and this site has already been helpful to me.
