Title: Gauge Lights?

Ryan from Ohio - September 5, 2005 05:42 PM (GMT)
Last saturday I went to get back on my bike at night after the German-American Fest...

Come to find out my light for my speedo is out? SO I had to guess the MPH by the Tach...

Anyone else have one of these burn out on them? I need to get this repaired... ANyone know what light it takes?

Hi Ryan,

Don't know what you ride... 550/650/750/900/1100 Seca/Maxim/Turbo/X. Bulbs should be the same, though, but just covering all possibilities.

The speedo light on my 750 Seca went out awhile back, just got around to replacing it. It was such a hassle to get at the bulbs.... remove fairing, remove headlight, remove back cover on gauges, not to mention putting it all back together. So I replaced all my gauge lights at once (except that damn warning light... pulled that one out and left the socket empty).

None of the bulbs I removed had any legible markings on them, so I took a bulb with me to the parts store and matched it up with the help of the parts guy. They're low wattage, so it's hard to do any harm if you put in a bulb that needs more juice than supplied.

Ryan,

Come on over, I have the manual. I need to take mine apart also as I have one out and I want to see what the bulbs look like. I was thinking about switching to the LED replacements, but need to check for room.

Hey Guys,
While we're speaking of guages...has any of you ever found a way to replace just the clear plastic cover of the guages? I'm guessing a buddy at the glass shop could cut round plex-glass and I could file/sand, install and seal but I'd really like to hear if any of you have had sucess with this little project.
Thanks so much, Vykky
