The 1981 (therefore I assume the 1980) 650 maxim does not have YICS. I would suspect that a 1981 Seca wouldn't either...

Must have been introduced in 1982... most YICS bikes still have the YICS engine cover... bright red paint saying YICS... mine just says Yamaha.

Cheers,
woot.

What year is yours?

i will have to wait till i get it from dealers! :ph43r: }

Yics seems to depend on model a bit. My XJ550 has it and the manufacture date on the chassis is 12/80. Look around and there is no 80 model in any parts catalogue so prolly first registered in 81.

Just went for a burn on it and came back rattly and leaking oil. Peeked under the carbs to find the cam tensioner broken in half. :angry: Now I gotta get it home :unsure:

I have an 82 XJ650RJ (Seca). It is silver in colour and NO YICS. The
red Secas that were sold in Canada, did have YICS........Kliph

That would make sense - a buddy of mine has a cherry seca 650 which I'm almost certain was a 1982... that bike was a YICS.

My '81 Seca 750 has YICS, so does my '82 parts bike and both my brothers '81 and '82 Seca's have YICS. They are all US models.
