Which direction do you turn the pilot jet screws for less fuel ?

Counter-clockwise is more fuel. Clockwise is less fuel. You should end up at around 1 1/2 to 2 turns out if your pilot jets are right.

Use OEM pilot jets only as some K+L jets are sized wrong.
