I don't know.
I wonder though - why do you want to change from what was in the bike before? What problem are you looking to solve, or what advantage is there in switching?
Just wondering,
Woot.
<-- runs what the PO put in as it works really well - I think it is the same plug without the R but I'd have to look and see.

Don't think you need to as the wires themselves are resistor wires; if I recall correctly, about 5K ohms each.

I was just curious, I already had some of these plugs and was going to use them if they would work. anyway to save a buck. thanks for your replies. I was not having any problems. Just bought the bike and am going through the carbs and just thought i'd put new plugs in too. again thanks

It will run with the resistor plugs but with a weaker spark. These bikes use resistor plug caps so the resistor plug is redundant. Resistor plugs are for reducing electro-magnetic-interference. This pertains to radios e.g. It is not for the performance of the bike. The caps work for the emi so let your engine run wild like it wants to!

Has anybody used the NGK iridium plugs in an XJ? My parts man has an old (60's I think) Harley and he is sold on these plugs. They seem a little pricey, but if what he thinks is true then they may be worth it. His main concern was that his old bike is a kickstart, and he said this was the only (or the first one he tried, not sure which) plug that would start the bike first kick everytime.
Any insight from the forum would be helpful.

The iridium plugs work fine. Better performance (high rpm, hard riding).
Worth the money <_< ? Unless you ride hard and drag race probably not.
Resistor plugs will work for a none resistor application, but not the other way around.
