Title: Gauges & Headlights
Description: Can I swap 'em

Hello all,

"New" 1981 XJ750 owner here. I'm located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
I bought it for $1000 CDN (28,000kms), rebuilt last year.

I had a question regarding the intrument panel and headlight.

As you may or may not know the bike has the rectangle headlamp and gauges.
I personaly like the round style of both better.

I woule like to change them out for round(er) ones. At the very least just the intrument panel to look like this (from a 1982 XJ750)

Is this possible? Steps. I've heard the 81 XJ750 has an electrical intrument panel, does the 82 pictured above? If i could finsd the scrap ones could I just swap them

Thanks,
Chris.

Anything is possible, but here are your challenges...

- Mounting bolts and brakes are different for the Seca style headlight than the Maxim (which is the look you're going after right?)
- Electricals are the same, but you'll need to match up the wiring.

That being said, I've seen a few modded Seca's with a round headlamp, and Maxim-style gauges. Looks pretty sweet.
