Hi All,

My name is Kevin and I'm in the Minneapolis, MN area. Just picket up an 82 XJ650 Maxim for my wife. It has 34K on it but for $150 its in good shape.

The front shocks didn't have any air in them when I picked it up. I hand pumped them to 11 pounds but shortly they loose the pressure. Haven't been able to find a haynes manual around town yet.

From what I been able to find on the web. There is a wireclip at the top of the the fork but all I see is the air valve and the metal plate it is screwed into. Does that metal plate need to be removed before I see the wireclip. Pushing down on the metal plate doesn't seem to help.

Any ideas would be of great help.

I'd install Progressive springs and you would run 0 psi and 10wt oil at stock level.

Amazon.com for a manual. I believe the plug must be pushed down to get at the wire clip. Be careful not to damage the air valve. If the fork seals leak you can't hold the air pressure.

Found the circlips. After doing a little cleaning of the rust buildup I found the clips.
Rust probably causing the problem of leaking air. New clips and o'ring ordered.
