Title: No spark?

yamaha650 - November 22, 2005 12:01 AM (GMT)
1985 Yamaha XJ650 Maxim. I picked this up as a repo from the apt. buildings I worked for this summer. I"ve done a considerable amount of work on it thus far(de-rusted the gas tank, new clutch cable, new master cylinder, built a new fuse box, new spark plugs, new boots for the carbs, new airbox/air filter) I hadn't tried to start the bike because of the rusty gas tank, but not that is not an issue anymore, I tried to start the bike the other week.

The start button is broken, so I am trying to start it with the two pegs on the starter soleniod. The kill switch is in the run position, and everything checks out. For some reason, I have no spark on any of the plugs. Any ideas of what this could be? I"ve tried all the plugs on all the different wires. All it needs is this spark, and i'll be good to go. Are there any mid-wire fuses I should be aware of? I've got an owners manual too, but I can't find anything. Any ideas would be greatly welcome!

Thanks!

Garrett
