kalani - November 28, 2005 09:11 PM (GMT)
i was wondering because its about impossible to get xj700 intake boots new now, can i use the xj750 carburetors i have laying around and install 750 intake boots on my 700 engine? going to jet it for pod filters and exhaust anyway, so i figured i'd just try and install those carbs and see. any suggestions on 700/750 intake boots?
thanks

will they bolt up to the head? do they fit on the carbs? thats really all you need to know ;)

actually, i would like to know if 750 carbs will fit on a 700, or if 750 carbs are the same as a 700 (since i cant find rebuild kits for the 700 carbs)

I fitted 750 Carbs to my 700 Maxim and it was OK after fitting a K&N Kit, The 750 jetting was to much for the 700 ( I have high flow pipes, K&N Standard filter). The only did use off the original carbs was the bowl becouse it has a tiny jet and it just seemed sensible to use them. Hope it helps

thanks for the info jaamba, so t he jetting was good when you installed the k&n pod filters? stock jetting for 750 on the 700?

It would make sense that you'd be close but you should still check the jetting...

Bigger jets from the 750 more balanced by more air from the K&N's...
