A guy wants to give me a 1980 or 1981 xj650 that used to run 2 years ago,but doesn't now because it's been sitting. He says he was pressing buttons and got the wheel locks on and can't get them off. He says they stop the wheels from turning. I have't seen it, I dont know anything about this type of bike and it's located 50 miles away. What kind of locks does this bike have? I thought they had a lock holds the forks and the front wheel to the side. I tend to think He doesn't know what he's talking about because he has the keys for it. Could it be the brakes or the motor is stuck in gear? I need to get it into a trailer to get it home. It might be to difficult to push it in there with the wheels stuck. Email me at john734b@yahoo.com
I am a newbie too so don't take my word as God but I don't know of any wheel lock button...
There is a lock position that you can set by turning the key but that is to lock the handlebars and steering. Please if I'm wrong someone chime in.
I have an 80 or 81 xj650 maxim and it doesn't have wheel locks. I haven't ever heard of them before. I don't see why anyone would need them.
If the bike ran when parked probably something is rusted stuck. Maybe wheel bearings.
Fork lock on mine, no wheel lock. Make sure he's not talking about some kind of bike lock.
Thanks for the help. I went to get it and found out they had it in first gear and didn't know it. It has no wheel locks.
