What's the one motorcycle of all time you wouldn't mind having?

    I absolutely love resto mods, and full customs and especially one of a kind machines. So when I cam across this article last year, and again yesterday the story captured my mind, but the bike it was about absolutely blew me away, being a hand built only one in existence kind of machine, from the design, execution, the hand turned parts and an engine completely ahead of its time, make this almost the rarest beast on the planet. the engine alone is a beautiful masterpiece, I had to share it with you all, I'm talking about the 1916 1,278cc butterscotch painted (probably lead based paint) Traub Motorcycle.

    So I'm curious to know of any other rare or highly sought after machines I may never have heard of that any of you may know of. What are your thoughts ?

    The evolution of the XJ only available in the EU, and maybe down under. Yamaha XJR1300. Here is a pic of one I got to check out up close in the Netherlands 4 yrs ago. 20170710_120132.jpg

    when I was in High school a lifetime ago we designed motorcycle frames on the drafting boards. full size drawings.
    we would design around an existing motor. With the help of our teacher and other shop departments we did put a several bikes on the street.

    So the 1300 above is chain driven?
    And I cee an inverted fork on yours with r6 blue dot calipers, you convert it?

    FJ1100/1200 derived motor.
    @FJ111200 what similarities and differences are there with the motors between the 2 bikes?

    Only way to gain CC's is larger cyl bore diameter, so id guess at least the cylinder is different.

    Yes i did all the work, FZR1000 RU EXUP front end, blue spots came from a bike i don't know, bought at an autojumble, could be R1. Both XJR12 and 1300 are chain drive, FJR1300 IS A SHAFT.

    The only difference between FJ1100, FJ1200, and the XJR's is the bore size obviously and the the XJR's have got a longer main axle shaft to account for the bigger rear wheel and swingarm and a longer clutch push rod.
    On that XJR1200 of mine above i've used a FJ1100 set of crankcases and a FJ1100 crankshaft, only because i had them lying around and the crankshaft has done 140,000 miles and i just used the biggest crank bearings, the blue ones, just to account for any wear. It runs sweet as.

    The blue spot calipers are iconic early 2000R6....they switched to blue spot radial mounts half way though production, but thats just mount type. so yours are early 2001 to 2003 R6. Just in case u need rebuild kits for them later. Nice bik tho man, I like it!!

    Thanks. I've also got them on my XS/XJ1100 hybrid affair. I usually buy brake pads for a XJR1300 and rebuild kits for the same from a member of the UK XJR Owners forum who has got a shop. I take it you know the 1100 is a shaft drive?

    I want a 1961 motorcycle, same age as me.
    Thinking a 1961 BSA Goldstar Catalina would do nicely.

    I'm just building a 1956 BSA A10 into something very similar along the lines of the Spitfire Scrambler
