I put the engine on it's side when I am fitting them. Stuff a rag in the case opening too.

Yeah, I very quickly stuffed a rag in the hole after I fished the clip out.

I should be putting it in the frame in two weeks.

Hey @Zoot_Suit , I've got a pair of shocks that I want to try this same thing...did you disassemble the at all? Or just dunk the whole thing in Evaporust? Yours turned out great.

I unbolted the shocks, didn't even clean them off, and put them in the Evapo-rust. I was amazed at how great it worked.

Nice. Avoided the Sawzall at least! When you painted your wheels, did you mask the edges of all the spokes, or did you clean the paint off after? Or is that powder coat?

I masked the spokes and the edge of the rim.

It took me an hour just to get the bead to seat on that tire. It just wouldn't pop no matter what I did. But it finally yielded to my stubbornness. :D

I wasn't able to seat the front wheel because I have to pick up a new valve stem tomorrow.

Zoot_Suit, depending on how many bikes you have and how much you ride it would be worth the investment to get a tire machine with a MC wheel attachment.

Now that I'm pushing 60, using a tire machine has been much easier on my knees and back than when I'd wrestle on the concrete with tire irons.

I recently put new rubber on my sons 650 Maxim, and from breaking the bead to seating the new tire it was less than 5 minutes per wheel, and I did it all while standing.

When I was young I didn't think twice about tackling any wheel using tire irons. Not so much now, that's for sure.

I suspect I've got one also if you need it. Although your internal threads might be more of a concern. Maybe hit the bolt with a thread file and see if you can ease it back in to fix the internal part.

Use a thread chaser on the frame threads that you can wind in with a socket. A bolt the right size with flutes cut in it .

I spent some time with some files, a Dremel, and wire wheels, then froze the bolt, and heated the frame and got it in. There some mild galling of the threads, but it's together.

Okay, I backed the idle screw all the way out, and the only way it'll run is full throttle.

I've checked the throttle and it's not binding anywhere.

    I'm stumped. Any suggestions?

All the way out? its there for a reason. Screw it in till it just touches, then in a whole turn. your choke and throttle cables are correct way around?

Yes, the cables are correct. The idle screw is where it should be.

I suspect it is something with the butterflies from when I bench sync'd them. They're probably too far open. I'm going to readjust them and see how it goes.

I’d check to make sure all the enrichment jets in your bowl are clear. If not I bet your pilot jets are the problem

Is there a carburetor guru out there that knows the solution? It'll only fire up after I've poured fuel directly into the airbox. Then It'll only run full throttle. The RPM variance you hear is from me flipping the kill switch on and off.

If they were like new you wouldn't be having this problem.....
Take them out, strip and inspect. This is where you'll find your answer.

She'll start if I spoon feed her, but then will only run as long as I keep the revs above 5K. I pulled the fuel line and cranked it over, and she was spitting fuel, and the bowls have fuel in them... Hmmm

It's a really pretty bike! Bummer that it's fighting you now, but you'll get it. Hold off on that chipper! Are you certain the enrichment jets in the bowls are clean? Did you get the Old Faithful geyser with carb spray to come out the top when sprayed in the bottom?
