I’ve never seen that style bag. Very nice.

    I added a windshield.

I'm not sure if I like it or not.

It'll depend on how much it mitigates the wind buffeting on the interstate at... "elevated" speeds. 20240814_172627.jpg 20240814_172646.jpg 20240814_172725.jpg

Ah, I now see why you seem to be a bit of a hot-head. Semper Fi.

It surely came out pretty. Shows all that hard work that went into the cleaning, painting and polishing. I don't have that much patience.

I finally had a chance to take a quick rip up the freeway.

It cut the chest buffeting by about 80%, but increased the helmet buffeting by about 125%.

It was this windshield from fleabay.

That is somewhat the experience I had with the Spitfire windshield. Partly why I don't have one now.

I'm thinking that I'll leave it off for "regular" riding, then put it on for longer runs.

Does anyone else have the same experience with RPM's? The bike loves to run below 3K RPM'S and at 5,500+ RPM'S.

    The trouble is, at 5,500 RPM'S in 5th gear, I'm doing 70-72 MPH. And at 6,500 RPM'S in 5th gear, it's going 90 MPH.

    Okay... why doesn't it work?

The speedometer is good. It spins right up when I grab the end of the cable and spin it by hand. And I've replaced EVERYTHING else from the speedometer down.

Forgot to install the piece that drives the gear?

I think he is referring to his previous post where the speed indicated seemed to be too fast for the RPM's.

    False alarm!

I JUST replaced that piece, I was spinning it by hand, but I must not have spun it enough revolutions for it to engage with the speedometer gear. Once I got going down the road, it clicked in and started working.

...like they all work. The GPS said 70 MPH, the speedometer said 74 MPH.

    But it works!

    ...finally. :D

I'll worry about the turn signals over the winter. I'm just going to replace all of the lighting with LED. Anyone have some good aftermarket lighting suggestions?

The chest buffeting is the lesser of the two evils.

Safer for the licence that way. In most places it's illegal for a speedo to under-read, so the makers err the other way.

Just took a rip up the interstate without the windshield and the helmet buffeting was gone... the chest buffeting was back, but I'll have to live with it.

What's weird, is I've never experienced these issues on the other nine bikes I've owned over the decades. But that was a long time ago and the memory may not be what it was.

I installed the rear lights, and they worked... briefly. Until I started working on the front lights. Now both right and left side blink at the same time. From what I understand, I simply have to remove the bulb from the indicator in the instrument cluster.

I'll finish it up tomorrow. But they do look good. :D
