Mine did the same thing when the oil had gotten contaminated with gasoline. Flushed the tranny and changed oil and it cured itself.
Is there any way to remove the shiney original spring type line protectors and use them on replacement brake lines.
Thanks for the info. may have to pull the clutch, But ill do another oil change first to see what happens.

Picked up a 81 550 as a fixer upper last fall. The last problem I've encountered is that after sitting over night the clutch wont dis engage...
I ordered tank badge from their Canadian site for my 550 was a perfect fit.
