    this is the ebay writeup
Up for auction is a solid, rebuilt, clean set of carbs from a 1982 750 Maxim. It should fit most years of the XJ750s. My mechanic cleaned them well as I was planning on riding the bike. Ready to bolt on and go. Questions??? Please ask.

Thanks for looking and God Bless. <">>><

carb 1> diaphragm pinched and split, drain plug in bowl has some head but frozen, mixture screw moves
carb 2> diaphragm ok, drain plug screw head shot, mixture screw so tight it squeels comming out carb body threads buggered screw almost shot, pilot jet has 1/2 a head, drain plug has no head
has 1/2 a head, drain plug has no head
carb 3> diaphragm pinched but may still work, mixture screw frozen, pilot jet has 1/2 head, drain plug has no head, cant see air jets under diaphragm too much crud
carb 4> diaphragm ok, mixture screw frozen, pilot jet has 1/3 head
dident try for the mains yet, all diaphragm springs rusty

sent a email asking maybe he sent the wrong part, here is his reply

well, if you got the xj750 carbs they were on a running bike-- if you think they're not repaiable return them and I'll credit you the purchase price--- you're incorrect on their condition-- please return them

    Re: Ebay junk dealer

Sounds like you went to the same place I went for a Petcock. Here's how it read:

THIS ITEM WAS REMOVED FROM A 1986 MAXIM

    TOTALLY CLEANED AND REBUILT

    ADDITIONAL PICTURES AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST

    ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE ASK!

Here's what I had to ask:

Q: did you put a new diaphram and seals in it?
    Sep-07-06
A: yes i did replace all the seals. i would replace the diaphram also if it had one.

I then wrote and they said, "that their mechanic had replaced all seals in the petcock".

Well, I got the petcock and set it aside for a spare, then one day I thought I'd open it and see how it looked inside........ HOLY CRA_
You should have seen the disc with the 4 holes.... torn up bad!
    The o-rings were junk too!

The seller said they would not refund the money if I sent it back, and used language that I dont want to put on this site!

    BE CAREFUL ON FLEABAY!!!!!!!

    E-Bay Warning:
    Buyer beware!
    Truer words were never spoken!
When bidding, keep in mind one thing. Can I afford to throw this money away? If you can, keep bidding. I've been exceptionally blessed in my dealings but the truth is, at least as I see it, not everyone is as fortunate. Sorry folks, it is a cruel world and the color of money is all that matters in business. Count yourselves lucky. I got cleaned out of $5,000 for a DVD by some cretins in Turkey. Fortunately for me, my card is protected. Most card companies offer fraud protection so I would encourage you all to look around for one. Use that account for your online business. Gives you some recourse. Best of luck, your going to need it.

the thing that jacked me most about this guy wasn't that he misrepresented the product, then told me i was wrong
when i was unpacking the stuff i found one of those little >you need to find god< booklets

this guy is lying through his teeth, ripping me off, and blessing me and telling me about god while he does it
oh well maybe he was talking about th greek god of carburetors

    Re: Ebay junk dealer

Ebey is like going to the flea market, only about half the stuff you get is going to work or be worth keeping and there's no way to get your money back in most cases so just keep that in mind and it works pretty well.

I've never had a problem with anything I've bought on eBay. But then I'm damned careful, both in reading the ads and reading the feedback. I don't know; maybe I'm just lucky...

Have to watch out for what you get online, never know what you are actually getting. SO far I have been lucky with my purchases, but I am sure at some time that luck will fail and I'll get stuck. Zwe have a local cycle salvage yard here local so I try to get most of the parts I need thru there. That way I can see them before I pay for them. Plus it's run by a few great old timers that just love bikes, and are great to work with. We all just have to remember there are those out there just trying to make a buck and not really caring about what they are selling or who they are selling to, the old addage of take my word for it doesn't hold as much weight as it used to.......

    Re: Ebay junk dealer

He sold me a seat that he said fit a 650 Special, but it was for a 750 Special. When asked about this,he said that "I've never had a 750 Special come through the shop." He then threatened to give me negative feedback. Moral of the story? This guy is a lying scumbag. God Bless.

I cant tell you how many times I've tried to tell someone on fleabay that they were selling a seat for a 650 or 750 but they insisted that their 1 piece seat came right off a 700.

    Stupid jerks!!

I wish they would get their facts straight!
