I bought a tired beat up old 81 750RH last year and have been tinkering around with it, fixing this and that as I've gotten the money to do so (master cylinder needed the snap ring installed properly, blinkers, did my own fuse box replacement, starter brushes, tires and some other stuff that doesn't spring to mind) I sold all my other vehicles about the same time and have been riding it full time since last may. Plan to dig into the valve adjustment this year but none of that is actually what brought me here.

I was watching a movie and right in the opening minute or so some crazy GF kicks over a guys bike and I thought the exhaust looked familiar. I was googling for pics of yamaha pipes when I stumbled here, liked what I read and plan to stick around. I don't really plan on watching the rest of that movie.

Well I found my 83 XJ900 SECA on craigslist in another town in another state 750 miles oneway in a town where my parents live. After googling about the bike I came across XJbikes.com and after reading posts about the XJ900 . I joined and so far I love my bike and this site has been very helpfull . I plan on riding my XJ900 for long time.

I found the forum through Google. I think it was one of the first 3 sites up when I searched. I looked at all of them and this one seemed to be the best.

Also through Google. After my 1992 XJ600S was blown over by a giant "dust devil" that went down our street (seriously -- I watched it happen!), I suddenly wondered about LED lighting and did a search -- not specifically for the bike at all; I just happened to notice that one of the results was a forum about the XJ series.

I got this bike in 2003 with only 3000 miles on it. It now has almost 60,000. I've been working from home since 2005, so it hasn't gotten as much mileage as rapidly it did for the first couple of years. I'll be back to commuting later this year but only about 10 miles or so instead of the 40 miles (each way) I used to do.

My last bike blew up at 60,000 miles, but it was a Kawasaki EX250 so it wasn't meant to have that kind of mileage put on it. Hopefully the XJ600 will last much longer, leaking beast though it is. There just aren't many bikes out there these days that don't have ridiculous amounts of power and torque that you couldn't possibly use and which just makes them dangerous in inclement weather.

I ride year-round. I have never driven a car. I'm 39 years old. I've been through three feet of standing water in a flood, blown from one lane to another in heavy rain as my feet were dragged as outriggers, had to lean less right to turn left in heavy crosswinds, and crabbed the rear end up a hill in a heavy snowstorm, but I've never crashed because of weather.

...but now the bike has crashed because of weather! I just wasn't on it.

In the process of purchasing a 1982 XJ750 Maxim. I was searchin online for info on these bikes and found you guys. Spent a majority of my work day reading through the forums instead of actually working. Love what I am seeing.
