i've given up chasing the summer, so i'm on a bit of a slow down. i'll get it finished properly for the spring. I might even sort the front end with some nice slab ally yokes now i've got a bit more time (and a new customer with a cnc machine)

 

ok i stopped guessin what is a CNC machine?

 

its a computer thingy that cuts up your ally with absolute prescision.

 

With the drive shaft exsposed, you should paint a spiral around it, in colors that will combine to make a different color while spinning.
Or better yet, you could use small blocks of two different colors, positioned on the shaft to spell something as it spins.
I've seen it done on hub caps.
At 40mph the caps read "F*%# You"
On the other side at 70 mph they read "See Ya"
I'm sure it coud be done on a spinning rod too.
Just a thought.

not a thing, ive built an extension to the house instead and my workshop has been taken over as a store for building materials, nearly finished now though and back on to the bike

The benches will be clear this week, the dr400 street tracker is finished and giong for an mot at the end of the week. The XJ is back at the top of the list and i have a little cash to finish her off.

I hear you about the getting old thing. It definitely hurts more and takes time to recover.

I got to agree with schooter, this is one mod I'm not fond of. Keep us posted of the progress.

 

I have a question about your hardtail, was there a reason you left about an inch and a half of the swing arm tube on the pumkin? I am looking into exposing my driveshaft and my idea was to just cut the tube flush with the plate that bolts to the pumkin, then weld that to the frame with a verticle cross bar to locate the pumkin on the hardtail. Were there any other problems with exposing the shaft that u hadnt mentioned in this post?

 

the bit i've left houses a bearing and dust seal.

 

I've got tickets to a few rallies this season and no time to finish the bike, as i would rather ride than build its for sale. i'm looking for £700 as it is with all the spares and bits to finish it.
