    Hello

I just got my caliper apart and now want to take the piston out but cant figure out how. What do you do to get this thing out of the housing?
I would even be happy at this time to get the piston to move out to the extended position so I can blast out the piston well and see if that works until I get parts. The caliper was dragging at times. Not locking just not releasing all the way. Help please

gday, mine were pretty well seized up, i couldnt find my grease gun and my i didnt want to do the mastercylinder thing just yet because i didnt want to risk brake fluid on my new paint work, what i did was free it up by getting a drift into the piston to push it in a bit then blast it with air, it moved a bit, then i kept repeating this till it came out, dont put you finger between the end of the piston and the caliper bit, this is my calipers ive just done on my rd,sorry ,had to show them.

I have had good luck trying an air hose before Grease gun (less clean up). Remove the bleeder valve use an air chuck with a rubber nozzle in the bleeder hole and cover the caliper with a rag to absorb any brake fluid. Feed the air little by little so the piston doesn’t fly out.

I've never been able to get them out using anything but grease.

The bleed nipple has a zerk-fitting end, so your grease gun clips right on. With the line port blocked with a plain bolt, you simply pump it full of grease until the piston slides out.

Works when compressed air has no effect.

or connect it back to your brake system, bleed it, and keep pushing the lever till it falls out, checking to be sure you put fluid in the MC if it gets too low. and you can bleed it in 20 seconds if you put teflon tape around the bleeder screw and suck the fluid through the bleeder screw w/ a syringe and tube, again keeping an eye on the master to make sure it doesn't get low enough to let air in. you won't beleive how easy that is

If it's all already apart, the grease-gun trick isn't that messy and a whole lot less hassle than reconstructing the system.

I always pop mine out using the master cylinder before I do any thing else... Sooo much easier... Although in saying that I would like to see the video of Polocks method lol

Hey guys, I am rebuilding my calipers off my 1985 maxim 750x and the above grease method isn't working. I can't get enough grease in behind the piston for them to move. I don't have an air compressor. Any ideas?

Well right after I made the previous post I tried it again and it worked! Question though, what is the best way to clean all the grease out of the small passageways? Lots of brake cleaner and a flexible plastic straw?
